Love's Letter
When I and my husband were dating and he went off to college, the only way to communicate was by landline telephone or letters. There were no laptop computers or cellphones at that time. So each week I would take my pretty stationary paper and hand write a letter to him. The letters were very innocent, filled with everyday happenings. At the end I would always tell him that I loved him and added some xoxo marks that represented hugs and kisses.
Later when we got married, I noticed that he had saved every letter. They were all tied together with a band. I realized that these notes were important to him. This was his expression of love, keeping each and everyone of them and probably reading and re-reading them throughout the week to feel a closeness while we were apart.
We also have a love letter. It is the Bible. It tells of the love God has for us as He gave His one and only son to take the punishment of sin that we have committed. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." Psalms 86:15 says, "But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness." 1 John, 4:8 quotes that, "God is love."
When we go though times of feeling unloved or appreciated, all we have to do is open the Bible and see the many scriptures written about this topic. God truly knows us, the good, the bad, the thoughts, the dreams, and He still loves us, so much that He has every hair on our heads numbered. Everyone needs love and these are letters specifically to us. We can not only feel loved but know we are loved by just reading Love's Letters to us.
